Dear Carrot Friend,
Carrot had a pretty good month and did a lot of his usual activities, such as hanging outside in his solarium with his friends.
Carrot was scheduled to have a visit with his friends at the Evolve Pink meeting, but the meeting was canceled last month, so he didn’t get to visit his friends. The next meeting is coming up soon though, so he is getting ready to go and flirt with all the ladies for the evening.
Carrot has enjoyed many stroller walks this month. The weather has been perfect for walking, and our volunteers have taken advantage of the great days. The cats either really love, or really hate, going out in a stroller, and it’s difficult to predict who will really enjoy it, and who will be absolutely horrified. You can usually tell in the first few seconds if the cat will enjoy a stroller walk, or will never, ever want to do it again. Carrot, as we know, absolutely loves it.
Carrot had a small amount of weight loss this month, but nothing that alarmed us. We will be monitoring his weight to make sure it doesn’t continue to go down. Carrot said he needs more treats, and that is the only issue he has. He certainly eats well, but treats are his favorite.
Carrot got a butt shave this month, to help him keep nice and clean back there. Carrot did not really appreciate this very much, but he also doesn’t put up too much of a struggle. Our incontinent cats can get a little dirty in the fur around their butts, so it makes it much easier to keep them clean if we shave the fur around that area. We will have to get Carrot some warm pants to wear for the chilly nights in the solarium!
Carrot usually gets along quite well with all his roommates, even feisty ones like Wilbur and Alex, but we had a report this month that Carrot went inside the suite and Nyla chased him back outside again. Nyla can be a little feisty at times, but mostly she keeps to herself, so I’m not sure why she decided to chase Carrot from the suite.
For many months Carrot’s calcium levels were high. We would do bloodwork once a week to check the levels, then give him the medication to help bring the levels down. Over time his calcium levels have come down, and he was getting less and less of the medication. This time when his levels were checked it showed his calcium is actually too low now, so the medication was stopped. We will be re-checking his calcium levels again in one month, but we are hoping he won’t need the medication any longer, and his calcium levels can maintain without medicine.
That’s all the Carrot news for now. As always, thank you for your continued support of our Carrot—it is deeply appreciated.
Your correspondent,
Karina
