Dear Carrot friends,
Our Carrot has had a fun and busy month. He has had many stroller rides this month, thanks to our wonderful Curbside volunteers. Carrot is popular with the volunteers, and he really enjoys going for a stroller ride.
We have many dedicated volunteers who are coming regularly to make sure Carrot, and all the cats who enjoy going for a stroller walk, get out many times each week. The cats love to go and smell the flowers in Cherny’s Garden, watch the birds at the bird feeders, smell the fresh air, and enjoy the sunshine.
Here is what one of our volunteers posted on our volunteer Facebook page while walking Carrot (Picture also included):
CARROT asked us:
“What’s happening? Who’s that in the other strollers?”
Yes, you read that right!
We had 3 strollers walking today!
We all enjoyed the beautiful, sunny weather.
Bright and cheerful, like CARROT himself!
Here’s hoping we can keep this program going into the gorgeous fall months.
The best time of year, in my opinion.
Thanks to all who walked today.
Did you know that 12 cats got a chance to stroll?
I love that so many of the cats are getting a chance to stroll. It gives them so much attention and stimulation during a time when we can’t have all of our volunteers in the building.
Carrot’s diet was altered a little this month to address both loose stools and weight gain. He was also put on meds to help with the diarrhea that he was having on a regular basis. This is certainly helping, but he needs to remain on a consistent prescription diet without an abundance of treats. Carrot does not approve of this! He said he needs treats by the truck load. It is difficult to say no to Carrot, he sure does love his treats (a little too much), but it is important we do the right things for him, and keep him healthy. Don’t worry Carrot, you can still have some treats, just a smaller amount.
Carrot’s solarium is the place to be lately. Nearly all the cats are out there! Whenever I go to visit Carrot’s room there are one or two cats inside the suite, and everyone else is outside. Big boy, Archer, has been spending a lot of time outside with Carrot and his friends, and everyone is getting along very well. Even Wilbur has been out there a lot (Archer and Wilbur are known for being bullies), and yet it is still all calm and peaceful out there.
That’s all the Carrot news for now. As always, thank you all for your continued support of Carrot. We couldn’t do this without you.
