Happy September friends!
Adam and I wish you a happy start to fall. Our little tabby boy is doing very well and sends you oodles of his love.
Adam has experienced a month of good health. His weight is stable. The last few weeks it has been very hot and Adam insists on being out in the solarium (or in the tube that leads to the solarium). On the very hottest of days, he seems to “melt” into the corner of the floor. He loves it!
He also loves that it is starting to get just slightly cooler this week. When I visited with him this week he was enjoying the lovely breeze that was wafting through the solarium. He had his little head lifted up and was sniffing the air. He smelled the onset of fall. I know he will be very excited to have cooler weather because as much as he seemed to enjoy “melting” into the floor, he really loves sleeping on cuddly blankets or hiding in the igloo with Abe, his new cuddle buddy.
Adam is beginning to have good manners all the time now. If you are a longtime supporter of Adam’s, you will recall that our boy has been a bit of a naughty kitty for many years now. He would always swat and nip at people and try to get affection in all the most inappropriate ways. He hasn’t done this in a long time and I was reflecting on it and trying to figure out if there was something that was causing this change. I think I may have stumbled upon the secret of Adam’s newfound politeness. Abe. This even littler tabby boy seems to be the link to Adam’s sudden good behavior. Let’s hope that Abe continues to work his magic.
A few weeks ago, Adam had a very interesting incident in the solarium that caused me a bit of worry. I was cleaning Suite A and had just come into the solarium to tidy it up. Adam went running from one end of the solarium to the other, but halfway across the floor, he suddenly tripped, flipped over on his back, and slid the rest of the way across the solarium as if he were on ice. He ended up almost wedged under the ramp in the solarium. I went running over to him to check on him. He got up and was walking a little strangely (even for Adam). He went over and immediately lay down on a bed and didn’t seem to want to get up. I wasn’t sure if he was just embarrassed or if he was injured.
I watched him carefully as I finished cleaning the room. Since he still hadn’t moved and didn’t really react much when I petted him, I went and got our vet tech to take a look at him. She got him up and watched him walk, felt his legs and checked him out all over. He seemed okay and she said she would keep an eye on him throughout the day. It was a really weird incident, even for Adam, who exudes weirdness. He seems none the worse for wear a few weeks later, so I’m sure he is okay. But it was an unusual Adam encounter, to say the least.
Adam sends his heartfelt thank you for all that you do for him. Your generosity helps provide him with a vet tech to check on his crazy escapades. Right now we are in the middle of the Linda Fund campaign. Every year, donations to Tabby’s Place that are earmarked for the Linda Fund are matched dollar-for-dollar and go into a fund to help with medical intervention for tricky medical cases of our cats. Adam thanks you for helping him and all of the kitties at Tabby’s Place live full and wonderful lives. We’ll be back again next month with another update. Enjoy September!
