Update for Yardley

Greetings Yardley Sponsors!

Hope you are all doing well. It was very hot here in New Jersey and then fall came and slapped us in the face. We took out our air conditioners last week. There was not as much window-open time as I would normally like, and it’s a bit too chilly now.

Yardley continues to do well. Her blood work last week was great. She was not thrilled with her last vet visit. One of her toes looked a little bent. It turns out she has a dislocated toe. I am not sure when this happened. It might have happened before she came to Tabby’s Place. Yardley is not a ball of fire so I don’t typically see her running around. She is more of a connoisseur of lounging. Her favorite spot is usually in a large pile of stuffed animals.

While she loves her stuffed animals, she does not love coming to Tabby’s Place for her monthly check-ups. I usually take her there for the day while I am at work. I set her up in a large cage but just seeing other cats sets her off. She growled and hissed the whole time during her most recent visit. For her next check-up, I will bring her in on my day off for an appointment so she can be in and out quickly. That will certainly make her happier.

Last month we did stop her Tylosin, which is for diarrhea. Her stool has been perfectly fine. She is well regulated on her EPI enzymes. She has been on the Tylosin once a day for a few months. We stopped it a few weeks ago and her stool has stayed the same! She is currently on Creon (for EPI enzymes), Cerenia (for nausea) and Melphalan (her chemotherapy drug.) She has not vomited in a very long time but while she is still on chemotherapy, we don’t want to decrease her Cerenia just yet.

The future is unpredictable. Yardley has continued to surpass our expectations. We will see what happens and just continue to love her. Considering her health challenges, she is doing amazingly well and we could not be happier.
