Update for Yardley

Greetings Yardley Sponsors!

I hope everyone is doing well! It is super hot here in New Jersey.

Yardley is doing well. We turned the air conditioning on this month. It was way too hot. Yardley seems fine. She has never been a window lounger. I had a cat perch in front of the window. She never used it. I would put her on it and she would jump down.

Yardley has always loved to lounge on the carpet. I tried a few different cat beds. She ignores them. She prefers the carpet. Well, okay then.

Yardley has been exploring a little bit! We have been leaving the door to her room open more. She will come out into the adjoining room, which is a playroom. There has been less hissing with her and the other cats.

We also have two rabbits that Yardley ignores, which you can see in this picture. We started the rabbits out in our other son’s bedroom, but they run around upstairs. They mostly stay out of Yardley’s room. She seems very confused when they do go into her room. The gate in the picture is to keep the cats out of the rabbits’ area. The rabbits easily go through the gate.

Yardley has come halfway down the stairs. Sometimes she sits on the stairs and looks as if she wants to come down. There is a dog downstairs. She is not sure about the dog. Our dog, Marcy, is a blind Catahoula mix. She is about 50 pounds. She is very sweet but Marcy does want to play with the cats. The cats do not want to play with her. I am sure Marcy is quite scary to the cats, even if she does not mean to be.

We will continue to slowly integrate Yardley into the house, at her own pace. A slow introduction is the best introduction!

As far as Yardley’s medications are concerned, right now we are keeping things the same. We may decrease some medications next month. Right now she is stable and doing well.

Thank you for sponsoring this sweet girl. You are helping an older kitty with a terminal illness live her life in a loving home. There is no greater gift. Thank you.
