Update for Wolfie

Happy mid-autumn, Team Wolfie!

Angela here, Tabby’s Place’s Development Director. I’m delighted to write for our wondrous Wolfman this month. Our roly-poly rock star has always been dear to my heart, so it’s a pleasure “talking Wolfie” with the ones who love him best.

Alas, I wish I could bring you better news. Our little man has once again developed ringworm. As you’ve learned all too well from Wolfie’s repeat incidents, ringworm is a harmless but highly contagious fungal infection affecting the skin. It can cause crusty patches of hair loss and itching, but it poses no real harm.

But, since ringworm does spread like wildfire between cats — especially those with compromised immune systems, like our FIV+ crew — we must isolate our little patients in our ringworm quarantine area, for three weeks of treatment.

This breaks our hearts, as it means putting a cat — and such a cherished cat as Wolfie! — in a cage. Even though we know it’s all for the best and only a temporary indignity, we’d much rather see Wolfie rambling and romping (OK, OK, lounging like a sea lion) in Suite FIV.

So, we’re doing everything in our power to make Wolfie’s latest visit to “Ringworm Ranch” as pleasant as possible. This means oodles of food and ample affection, with lots of reassurance that “this too shall pass.”

Frankly, Wolfie handles Ringworm Ranch better than most cats. While others become depressed by living in close quarters, Wolfie seems quite content, cozying up with his blankets and accepting our affection about as much as usual (a range from “reluctantly” to “gleefully,” depending on the person and Wolfie’s mood).

This month, we’ve also had a special encouragement for Wolfie. Tabby’s Place’s volunteers have been hard at work on a 2019 photo calendar…and can you guess who they chose to kick off the year?

That’s right: Wolfie is Mr. January!

You can see for yourself above. (And, if you’re so inclined, you can check out and purchase the calendar here.)

Meantime, I hope these last months of 2018 are treating you marvelously, dear sponsors. Wolfie, all the cats and I wish you a holiday season bubbling over with love, joy, and deliciousness of all kinds. Thank you for being one of Wolfie’s greatest blessings!
