Update for Tux

Dear Friends of Tux,

The lazy days of summer have begun for the kitties of Tabby’s Place. Fans and air conditioning whir to address heat and humidity. These things seem far more bothersome to humans than they do to cats. Tux loves to lavish in the sunlight, and warmer summer windows are all the more wonderful in his eyes. However, the large fan that starts whirring in the Community Room so that the humans can clean without melting is rather bothersome to the more skittish felines. Tux simply sees this as background noise, something to be sniffed and then ignored. A brief moment in its path might feel refreshing, but Tux prefers to wallow in window warmth.

Several of the Community Room cats have gone to their forever homes through our new online virtual adoption process. Tipsy and Sammy departed this month and there are rumors that a few more might be leaving before too long. Tux has always taken changes in stride and fewer cats mean less competition for prime window seats from which to warm the belly and watch the birds.

Tux and Lucinda birdwatching

Tux is quite fond of bird watching, but he takes the approach of a seasoned observer who sits quietly and recognizes that the glass between him and the birdfeeder is an impenetrable barrier. The younger of the room (Dani, Lucinda, and Periwinkle) are still under the naive assumption that they might be able to capture the feathered visitor if they just dig long enough at the glass.

Tux has been in good health this month and he has been a bit more active of late. He comes for treats with the youngsters of the room and waits patiently for dinner to arrive in the late afternoon.

Thoughtful Tux

It has long been the expressions that Tux gives that bring a smile to my own face. These are fleeting and hard to capture, but when I do manage to get one on camera, I simply have to share it. The picture of a nosy looking Tux (above) was taken immediately after another shot was photobombed by Periwinkle’s butt. Tux displays amazing patience with youngsters like Periwinkle, who look to him for both comfort and guidance. Don’t you just want to know what he’s thinking about? I would sure like to take a break from my own mental overload and see the world through Tux’s eyes for just a moment.

Thank you for your continued support of Tux and the kitties of Tabby’s Place. We could not continue to care for them without your help and we love you for it!
