Update for Thomas

A big hello to Team Thomas!

There’s good news on the medical front this month. We were very concerned about some suspicious-looking spots on Thomas’ back; our fear was that he might have ringworm, the last thing we want to see at Tabby’s Place. But our fears were unfounded. It was just another episode of WTSC (Weird Thomas Skin Condition), and the spots are long gone.

In another area of health, His Orangeness has gained some weight over the winter. When I went in to see him after my time away, he was, er, distinctly larger than I remember him being. It’s better than having him lose weight, to be sure, but we don’t want him to get too big, either.

Thomas and Fuzzy (pictured with Thomas in the photo at right) continue their periodic wrestling matches. When I was visiting Thomas, Fuzzy came casually walking over and leaped on him. I didn’t think that was called for at all, so, waiting until there was a break in the action, I scooped up Fuzzy (who’s no lightweight himself), gave him a bit of a scolding, and moved him to a different area of the suite. I then went back to petting our favorite orange guy.

About three minutes later, Fuzzy came strolling by, trying to appear nonchalant. But Thomas wasn’t fooled for an instant, and he promptly leaped on Fuzzy and wrestled him to the ground. I’m much less concerned about these wrestling bouts than I once was. Knowing that Thomas hasn’t always played well with others, as it were, I thought there might be genuine enmity between the two. But I’ve seen Fuzzy grooming Thomas a couple of times, and I believe Thomas wouldn’t allow that if there was a problem between the two cats.

With summer approaching rapidly, Thomas is spending more and more time in his solarium. He focuses less on his food out there, which is a plus right now. But more importantly, we’re pleased to be able to give him a safe, comfortable, loving environment that he really enjoys.

Thanks for your continued support of our delightful orange tabby!
