Update for Thomas

Greetings to Team Thomas!

Always one to keep the humans on their toes, our favorite orange guy has started off the year a little more eventfully than could be wished. He’s been seen vomiting a few times over the past month, but so far that doesn’t seem to be serious. However, he has been started on antibiotic injections for a small ulceration on his lip. The antibiotics are really just a precaution; as you know, we must be extra-vigilant about health matters for all of our FIV+ crew.

I think that our Thomas was born into the wrong climate. Almost all cats love sunshine, but His Orangeness takes a particular delight in lazing in the sun every chance he gets. There are many days during the winter when we can’t let our FIV+ cats into the solarium – most of the time, it’s simply too cold. But on those winter days when the thermometer goes up to a tolerable level, our orange boy is always one of the first to head outside. And he’s not afraid to resort to strategy to get into the sun, either. I once saw Jasper basking contentedly in the sole patch of sun in the solarium. Thomas walked over to Jasper and deliberately swatted at him until Jasper got up and walked away, whereupon Thomas settled down in the sunny patch, looking as though he was at peace with all the world.

As always, my thanks to you for helping us care for our special feline.
