Greetings, FeLVie Fans! Time for another update on our FeLV+ crew.
You’ve already been notified regarding the sad news about Charles. We are grieving his loss, but we know it was the right thing to do. And we know we gave him all the love and care we could.
Ready for a little good news? Our Clover was adopted! In her new home, she joins FeLV+ Tabby’s Place alums Derby and Dylan. We couldn’t be more pleased for our girl.
It’s official: Abacus (pictured at the top of the update) is an attention hog. Walk into his suite and sit down; chances are that Trifecta will come over right away, followed immediately by a seemingly nonchalant Abacus, who will then try to cut Trifecta out of the picture and get all of your attention himself. Nice try, buddy, but Trifecta needs love, too. Abacus continues to get a little too rough with Checkers, and because of that we sometimes have to put Abacus in a time-out.

When I visited the FeLVies recently, a new table with an umbrella was being installed just outside of the FeLV+ suites. Hoopla Green was not amused (it was way too much noise for her), and she quickly went from a perch on a solarium cat tree where she’d been lounging into a hideout cube that’s enclosed on three sides.
Our vet team checked out Batty, who was reportedly a little congested, but found nothing of concern. Batty seems delighted when I feed her kibble, one piece at a time. She’s still shy and stays in her cubby, but she is very gradually coming out of her shell.
Regina developed a urinary tract infection and is currently on antibiotics and daily bottom cleanings, but of course, it hasn’t slowed her down one iota.

Puff has been rather quieter than normal over the past month. That can be cause for concern, but our vet team checked her out and found nothing. Puff has been spending a good deal of time in her solarium recently.
Sammy and Oram absolutely love their stroller rides. In fact, Sammy will try to jump back into the stroller after she’s been returned to her suite, and you can see a photo where our tortie girl is determined to go for a stroller ride even though Oram is clearly in the stroller at the time.
Tucker is doing nicely and enjoys the sunny patches in Quinn’s Corner lobby when it’s his suite’s turn to be there.

Sweetie will occasionally venture out of his cubbyhole during the daytime, if no humans are in his suite or solarium—excellent progress for him. He still retreats quickly when staff or visitors arrive, but we know his road to socialization will be a slow one, so we’re not discouraged.
People are too ready to turn their backs on immune-compromised felines. Decades of misunderstanding and assumptions are finally just beginning to come to light, but education is a painfully slow process. And even now, FeLV remains a poorly-understood disease.
You’ve chosen differently, however. You’ve chosen to help cats who others are quick to dismiss; you’ve chosen to help us show the world that these felines deserve love and care. Thank you!
