Update for Stafford

Update for Stafford

Greetings, Stafford Fans!

Ready for another update on our sweet guy? Medically, the past four weeks have been more eventful than we could wish for Stafford. The staff noted that he seemed much more congested than usual; he was sneezing more, too. Then, there were several days where he ate well and got his insulin but just didn’t seem right later on.

We began checking his blood glucose twice a day, and he ended up skipping several doses of insulin. He was also started on antibiotics and antiviral medication to help with the congestion and sneezing; he was even treated via nebulizer for several days to help loosen his congestion and make him more comfortable. So far, the results of all of this have been encouraging. Stafford has certainly improved, but he’s still undergoing some treatment, and of course, we are watching him very carefully.

How much has Stafford improved? Enough to go out for a ride in the stroller. A couple of years ago, a kind donor gave us a pet stroller, and we’ve started taking more and more felines out for a stroll on nice days. They clearly enjoy the sights, sounds, and smells that they don’t get inside, and it’s excellent mental stimulation. Stafford is so calm that he’s a great cat to take for a stroll (see the photo that accompanies this update), and he seems genuinely interested in everything happening outdoors.

Aside from his medical tribulations, things have been quiet for Stafford over the past month. He’s just as gentle and laid-back as ever. I almost wish we could clone him and send a Stafford duplicate to the many cat lovers who have too much anxiety in their lives these days, as I’m sure his presence would prove calming. As always, I’d like to thank you for helping us keep Stafford in style; your support means so much in these days of confusion and uncertainty. Please stay safe!
