Update for Stafford

Greetings, dear Stafford fans,

I’m happy to fill in for Stephanie this month and provide you a bit of news on Stafford. We hope that you are healthy and staying well and safe during this strange time in the history of mankind. Though the world of New Jersey remained locked down these past weeks and Tabby’s Place is not yet open to volunteers and to visitors, Stafford is in the best of hands.  The wonderful Tabby’s Place staff continues at their labor of love:  feeding the fur babies, cleaning their rooms, laundering their blankets and beds, administering their medications, completing other essential work, and providing much petting, loving, and playtime.

This, in addition to now arranging for virtual visits to cats who are up for adoption and processing those adoptions in a whole new way!  This is very exciting, as it allows adoptions to still take place, even though visitors are not permitted in the building.  A number of adoptions have already taken place in this way.

Whew! I am exhausted just thinking about all the staff is doing in the absence of volunteers to share the work. Knowing each of the staff members, however, this comes as no surprise. Their hearts are overflowing with love for the cats and they are willing to do anything and everything to provide the best care and home for these adorable creatures.

So what is new with Stafford this past month? He experienced a bit of weight loss, which prompted the ace Tabby’s Place vet team to run a blood glucose curve to see how his diabetes was doing.  As a result, his insulin level was increased. His weight seems to have stabilized on the new insulin level.  He also had an upper respiratory infection (URI) and was started on antibiotics.  That resolved the issue, thank goodness.

Otherwise, he is enjoying his stroller outings around the Tabby’s Place buildings and relishing in the company of his very gentle roommate, Shiny.  And, of course, Stafford is as sweet as ever.

Thank you for your kindness in supporting Stafford and Tabby’s Place.  We know that without you we would not be able to care for these wonderful felines.  It is hard to put into words how grateful we are.  Please take good care and stay safe. perhaps by next time, we will be able to tell you the doors of Tabby’s Place are once again open to visitors and volunteers.

Sheila
