Update for Shifty

Update for Shifty

Hello, Dear Friends!

I am putting “pen to paw” this month, to bring you a bit of news about myself.

My medical check-ups have shown that my diabetes has remained “status-quo,” which is considered a good thing here at Tabby’s Place.  My insulin requirements have remained consistent, and that amount is administered to me twice a day.  My appetite is good, and aside from a noted coughing spell during the past month, I am doing well.

I am happy to sit on my cat-tree perch and watch the comings and goings of our staff, volunteers, and those working on the construction of our new wing here at Tabby’s Place.  Quinn’s Corner is a work in progress, and as the construction continues outside, we work diligently inside to get prepared for what our newest residents will need.  Their medical requirements will be many, and we must be ready for opening day, later this year!

As we ramp up to serve these new additions, our need for volunteers increases. Volunteers are a huge part of our operation, as we could not run Tabby’s Place without them.

Beginning in May, we will launch an intense volunteer recruitment campaign to find those willing to give the gift of time and make an impact on the lives of our cats.  If you know of anyone who would be interested in volunteering (perhaps even you!), please let them know we will soon be reaching out with more details. There are many types of volunteer duties to fit diverse abilities and schedules.

Thank you, as always, for helping to spread the word about Tabby’s Place!

When my correspondent, Kim, came to see me this past month, it was often raining and gloomy.  On those days, she found me in siesta in nests under the sofas in the Volunteer/Employee Lounge I am blessed to call “home.”  As we moved into sunnier days this past week, I was again back to my cat tree, watching the blue skies and big fluffy clouds.  I was even able to wave a paw to her, as she passed by outside the windows with a cat from the Stroller Program.

I thank each of you for your most generous gifts that allow me to live the best life possible here at Tabby’s Place.  Kim told me I am already dressed in my holiday best for the Easter/Passover occasions—in my gray tux, white kid gloves, and bib collar (all made of fur, of course)! On behalf of everyone here at Tabby’s Place, we wish you the most blessed of holidays, and here’s hoping you join Kim and me in springtime smiles…..

Sending much love,
Shifty
