Update for Shifty

Did I hear birds out there?

“Hello! Is that our Shifty in the window?”

One day last week I was coming into the sanctuary that he is blessed to call “home.” I saw him looking out the window, so I stopped to say hello.  He was perched on the cat tree inside. There was a lot of chirping in the trees just outside that window, so I assumed he was taking in the action of the birds.  The pair of birds were building a nest, so there will be little ones soon.  I am sure all of this activity will keep our fine fellow well-entertained for the next few weeks to come.

Shifty is doing well health-wise.  He had one episode of coughing this month and he has been monitored for any repeat of the same. Fortunately, nothing more serious has developed.

Siesta time!

His spirits remain good, probably inspired by the “birding” he does from the windows each day.  Also keeping his spirits up is his new friendship with Bosco, a cat recently introduced to his suite.  Shifty also continues to frequent the “free bin” as a place for a siesta. Perhaps he likes it because it offers a first-hand view of any staff or volunteers who enter his domain?  Or maybe because it always has comfy stuff across which to stretch his svelte body across…

Speaking of volunteers, there have been a few volunteers added to our list of those permitted inside the sanctuary.  As fans, they all want to say a special hello to Shifty.  I think this, too, has gone a long way towards making his days happy.  He shares his special “cat-smile” with us and combined with his beautiful eyes and coloring, there is one GREAT looking cat greeting his admirers. I am so happy to see this and hope his positivity continues and has the same effect on all he greets.

We thank you for your most gracious gifts that provide for his health and well-being.  It is truly a pleasure to see him, waiting for a head-pat and a chance to sit and interact with all who love him.  Your continued support is so appreciated at this difficult pandemic time.  I know you join Shifty and me in prayer that soon, we will all be back to “normal,” and you may join us again in the pleasure of a personal visit to Shifty!

We wish you continued good health and blessings.
