Update for Shifty

Update for Shifty

Hello!

Greetings from the Lounge at Tabby’s Place, where I am spending time with our friend, Shifty.

Shifty is just such a lovely gentleman cat!  He is charming to all human visitors and is

Reese: a.k.a “Felix”

friendly towards the other cats with which he resides.  Except for just one:  Reese!!

I have finally figured out that watching this pair is like watching an old rerun of “The Odd Couple.”  Am I dating myself here?  Probably.

Shifty would be more like Oscar—the overbearing one of the pair.  The one who might be a touch sloppy (he does tend to leave his beds a bit of a mess).  The one who is a bit chunkier, due to his love of food and meal-time.  The bigger one in size, who would not hesitate to use that strength to his advantage to get what he wanted.

Which is to get to Reese’s food bowl, no matter what it takes!

Reese would be the Felix-type character.  Prim and neat in her appearance, quiet and soft-spoken, Reese just wants to be left alone at mealtime.  Unlike Shifty, who will eat anything, Reese in her Felix-like preference for food delicacies, wants only Fancy Feast.  Not JUST Fancy Feast, but the type with the middle part filled with something fit for a queen.  She just wants to eat in peace, but this is NOT going to happen with Shifty in-house. We DO monitor her at mealtimes, to make sure Shifty is not gobbling her delights.

Let’s move on to Shifty’s GOOD news, shall we?  He continues to do well from a health standpoint.  His coat is plush and soft.  The white of his paws and collar is bright and pretty against his silver-gray coat.  Big eyes sparkle when they recognize you. He can often be seen looking out the big picture windows of the Lounge and watching the activity outdoors.  He is happy to see everyone that enters, and we all offer a few words and a pat on the head as we hang our coats and prepare for our shifts.  You will see by the photos sent along for your enjoyment that our fine fellow Shifty is very content.

More snooze time with Simon!

We thank you for your most gracious gifts that allow for the care Shifty needs to remain the debonair,  svelte cat that he has become under the care he receives at Tabby’s Place.  He wishes you a wonderful New Year filled with good health and happiness.  We look forward to a year filled with happy Shifty updates in 2021!!
