It appears that “change” is the only thing that we can be certain of in the FIV Suite. It has been quite chaotic and will not be better anytime soon.
On the behavior side, there has been some progress. The medications seem to be working on Rufus, so he is no longer crated overnight. This saves a lot of time and lowers the tension level in the room.
But, this month saw the introduction of a new “player” into the room: Inigo. This poor guy came to us from the shelter in Kansas that sent us Pixie, so we know they only supply the best cats. 🙂 Inigo requires a whole post to himself, but he has so far proven to be very gentle, though he is quite shy and somewhat fearful of humans.
In the photo, you can See Inigo curled up with JJ (left) & Tennison (middle). This is the same crew that Shea hangs out with, so I suspect we will see Shea welcoming Inigo to the suite.
Of course, Inigo will have to make his way outside, as Shea spend almost all of his time out there. And, with the warm weather we have been seeing, the cats in the solarium have been acting as large, immovable “heat sinks” (a device or substance for absorbing excessive or unwanted heat). There is some serious sun bathing going on, and it is common to see Shea and Oscar plastered to the concrete, barely breathing, happy as clams.
There is going to be more excitement in the future for the FIV Suite, so stay tuned for additional shenanigans. I suspect Shea will continue to glide along, keeping his head low, but we shall see …
