Update for Rose

Dear Team Rose,

If you could see through the computer right now, you would see this li’l southern black-and-white kitty smiling ear to ear!  I don’t want to jinx anything, but this has been a much better health month for me.  In the words of the Tabby’s Place Executive Director (I call him Jon), “Rose has improved markedly recently.”  My correspondent continues to come to Tabby’s Place to sit with me as often as she can, she sings to me and does the “Rose has 4 Toes” dance!  I am so blessed to have so many humans and felines cheer me on, and care about me and my health.  Having you as my sponsor has really lifted my spirits and motivated me to feel better each day.  My mama always said that a furry black-and-white southern belle is as strong as a pecan shell!

While I recover from my health issues, I am taking a break (just a pause) from my Aged to Purrfection visits.  It is so important right now that I am handled minimally.  Even my correspondent calls a staff member over when I need to be moved into my crate for dinner.  She always tells me that she does not want to hold me the wrong way.  I know she misses hugging me, and I miss her, but I understand.  There is one pleasure that I continue to enjoy, and that is stroller rides.  If the weather does not get too chilly, I am able to soak in the sunshine and fresh air.

Lobby news:  Frankie, also known as Frankie blue eyes, was adopted after an amazing word-of-mouth and social media campaign.  I now have a soft crate in the lobby where I can enjoy meals, nap, and sleep undisturbed.  My friend Lisa who is a volunteer always makes sure that I have a clean bed and linens.  She and my correspondent pick out the perfect cat bed together that is “Rose worthy”!  I feel like I am on the club level of a fancy hotel!  We also have a new lobby resident who is my crate neighbor.  His name is Charm, and he is very handsome and affectionate.  Tabby’s Place saved him from being euthanized at another shelter.  I think his name should be Prince Charming!

BOObalah and friend!

Tabby’s Place had booths at two special events in September.  Since I was not able to help my correspondent with inventory and packing, I asked Hips to help.  He did a great job, and personally climbed into each event box to make sure everything was there.

The staff has decorated the lobby for Halloween, I love it!  The funniest is there is a skeleton on a chair, and my pal Boobalah sat in his lap (this photo was posted on our Facebook page).  She is an A+ lap sitter.  The staff also dresses up most of the cats for Halloween.  Last year I was a fairy with wings.  This year I need to skip dressing up, since my handling is minimal.  My correspondent says that I don’t need a costume because “Rose is just perfect.”  I am blushing!  Hips told me to share with you that the Tabby’s Place event team will be at Booth #28, at the Hunterdon Harvest Fest in Flemington on October 29, from 10 am until 6 pm, with some spooky surprises.  If you are in the area, please stop by and say hi!

The past couple of months have been tough, but I could not have made so much progress without having you as my sponsor.  Along with your love, Tabby’s Place has come to my aid with a special fund called “The Linda Fund,” which helps cats in emergency medical situations.  When I fell ill 4 years ago “The Linda Fund” helped get me the medical care that I needed to recover.  Four years later, “The Linda Matching Fund” has been there for me, providing the world-class medical care I need to survive and thrive.  What is great is that your gift through October 17th is matched dollar for dollar by a group of benefactors.  If you would like to donate, please go to our website!

I can see every day how my health update has improved from last month.  My mama always told me to take baby steps, and I will get where you need to be.  I enjoy walking around the lobby, following the volunteers who are carrying our food trays, using the vertical scratching post, and tasting a nice selection of foods and lickable treats.  My correspondent and staff have observed that my green eyes look bright and clear.  My correspondent said she knows I am doing better because she is able to take lots of photos of me!  You know how sometimes when you are ill you just don’t want to be fussed with?  Well, I continue to hypersalivate when being medicated.  All the staff members are trying very hard to get the necessary medications into me as quickly as possible, but when I resist it makes things more difficult.  Must be the southern grit that my mama instilled in me!

Sending you Halloween candy corn whisker kisses!

Love,
Rose
(With help from your Correspondent, Ilene)
