Update for Pixie

December greetings to you and to all Pixie’s friends!

It’s been another good month for our little lady cat. Pixie has enjoyed stable good health, so she hasn’t had to miss a visit to her elderly friends through Aged to Purrfection. She has what it takes to delight everyone she meets.

Of course, she doesn’t have to travel to meet people to delight. While I visited recently, two women entered the Community Room. One guided the other, who was carrying a folded white cane under one arm, and they sat down at the large conference room table. They had come from Sea Girt, about a 90-minute drive from Tabby’s Place, and Pixie hustled over to greet them.

The one who had driven picked her up and petted her for a moment, then set her on her companion’s lap. That one said, “She’s so soft, What does she look like?” and her friend described her. She smiled at the description and said, “She’s purring now.”

I snapped some pictures while we all enjoyed the moment. But in New Jersey, the sun sets early, and all of us had some driving ahead of us, so we reluctantly left Pixie behind until the next visit.

As it turns out, that little cat isn’t always a lady, the way she was during our visit. If anyone but an unimpeachable source had told me, I wouldn’t have believed it, but it must be true — for whatever reason, something about little Rose has irked Pixie since the day she landed in the Lobby. Pixie has been sporadically aggressive towards Rose, who is so meek and gentle she doesn’t defend herself. No one has reported seeing that behavior with any other neighbors.

Staff members separate the girls when necessary, and nothing has ever escalated to the point of serious concern. Still, it’s baffling to hear about sweetie-pie Pixie going on the attack.

Before I go, I’d like to thank you for your gifts to Pixie and Tabby’s Place on behalf of everyone. Your contributions are welcome, and if you have a cat who’s also willing to give, like this one, so much the better.

Wishing you all good things during the holiday season,
