A joyous and jubilant June hello to you, my jewel of a friend and sponsor!
I hope you are enjoying these beautiful, sunny spring days as much as I am! There is a freshness to the air outside Tabby’s Place that I just love to sniff, with pretty flowers blooming that smell wonderful. And there are soooo many birds and butterflies to watch. This is absolutely my favorite time of year, especially when I get to experience it firsthand with some outdoor enrichment time in my protected play yard! Those are some of my favorite days!
I have been doing very well since we last chatted. I do occasionally pick at my fur, but I assure you it does not affect my beauty and is not detrimental so my overall health, so I am not going to get into the whys of this. What I am really embarrassed about is being featured in the blog “10 over 10,” for Remember the Seniors. I just can’t believe they called me a senior and put my age out there for everyone to know. I feel so violated by this!

If you remember, last month I told you about how we had to celebrate National Tabby Day. Princess Prescott sashayed around here that day like such a big deal because we were supposed to be celebrating her. But the truth is, Prescott had to share her day with Willow, Ruchi, Regina George, and many other tabbies, all of whom think they are so special!
But June 1st …. now that is a really extraordinary holiday and is incredibly important. Did you know June 1st is National Olive Day? An entire day set aside and named in honor of me, and not shared with anyone else! I made sure everyone around the lobby knew that it was National Olive Day and that I am the most gorgeous Olive ever. I was petted, loved, complimented, and adored.

I know you were celebrating too, and I thank you for your love and devotion to sweet little me! Jonathan, one of my ardent visitors, continues each year to laugh at me and tell me that someday I will figure out what Olive Day is really about. Of course, I already know—what else could it be about other than me?

Frankly, I think we should change the day to “National Queen Olive Day.” What do you think? Alas, my special day went so very quickly, and everyone insisted that the lobby return to normal the very next day. It is going to be a long 365 days until I am properly celebrated again….
There are some days that I just cannot resist being adorably cute, batting my gorgeous green eyes at staff and visitors. The staff knows what will likely happen after a few too many head scritches or an attempt to rub my belly. But I still lure them in to try—and my trap works—Every. Single. Time!
Have you ever heard the saying not to bite (nip) the hand that feeds you? We definitely all respect that as a law around here! However, there is no rule not to nip the hand that expresses your bladder. So, to our staff member Colin, I have to say: I am sorry, Bud! But you kinda know it is a trap and that you are risking your fingers. Because sometimes I just cannot help myself. (And I know I can get away with it because Colin loves me anyway, even when I’m spicy.)

So, can you keep a secret? I really do not want word to spread around the lobby because I have no doubt there would be no end any time in the near (or distant) future to the needling I would endure about this. But as long as you can keep my secret, I will tell you something very exciting. I have a date coming in shortly!
And I am not talking about some holiday date marked on the kitty calendar, but an actual date – date! Someone very special (and incredibly handsome) has arranged a visit with me, and he will be here before long. I am just so super excited! My heart speeds up, my chest goes aflutter, and I get (rock) stars in my eyes just thinking about him. I have no idea if there will be dinner or if he will sing to me, but one thing I do know is that I am going to be sweet (no nipping!), and we will have a fabulous date.

Jeez, our time sure has flown by, and I really need to make myself beautiful for my date. Before I scoot, I just want to take a few minutes to wish you a warm and wonderful month and summer ahead. Your devotion and never-ending kindness and generosity to me truly mean so much, and I am always grateful for you. Thank you for taking the time to allow me to share my feisty, fun, and frivolous feline life. Anytime you are in the area, I would love to see you too!
So until our next update…..
All my love,
Queen Olive
