Update for Mona

Hello my dear sponsor,

I hope that you are well.  The weather has been unusually warm, and I have enjoyed long days in my beloved solarium.  I continue to welcome visitors, and am always happy when someone sits by me and scratches my head.  I sometimes sleep through it, but the love-scratches mix with my dreams in a very pleasant way.

Sadly, since I last wrote to you, our FIV+ community suffered an unexpected loss.  Our dear Adelaide has passed away.  We knew that her kidneys were in decline, a condition for which she was receiving treatment.  But her situation worsened suddenly and without warning.  She was surrounded by love when she passed.  We all will miss Addy’s sweet and charismatic personality.  I am so grateful to have spent many happy hours with her.  Below you’ll see a recent photo of me and Addy sitting together in our favorite spot in the solarium.   She was such a loving friend.

I also have happier news to share. We have a new roommate in the FIV+ Suite. His name is Cisco, and this boy has a remarkable story: Cisco is a survivor of an unfortunate hoarding situation. When he was first rescued and brought to a vet, he was in terrible condition — inflicted with ringworm and two types of gastrointestinal parasites, and severely undernourished. He was also found to be FIV+, and the vet almost gave up on him. But when the amazing and kind people at Tabby’s Place learned of Cisco, they immediately stepped in.

Cisco was brought to Tabby’s Place, where he and twelve other survivors of this dire situation have received all medical attention, love, and nourishment that they desperately needed.  Now, after months in the hospital, he enters our suite free and clear of ringworms and parasites.  Meanwhile, his weight has gone from 6.5 to 11 lbs!  I am looking forward to getting to know Cisco better in the weeks ahead, and will provide you with an update next month.

I am happy to report that my health remains good.  In other health updates, Charlie had a wart removed, and now weighs much less!  Wolfie, who has been experiencing ear infections, was checked again…and the vet noticed that these infections are due to an abnormality in the structure of his ear.  So, for now, he has been taken off his antibiotics, which have not helped.  Eventually, however, Wolfie will probably need surgery to address this issue.  Finally, our dear Lester has continued to battle frequent diarrhea, and has been switched to a new diet.  He will continue to be monitored, and further tests will be done if necessary.

All of us at Tabby’s Place are so lucky to be here!  You make it all possible, and I am so thankful for your generosity.

I hope that the coming month brings you much love and happiness.

Affectionately,
xoxoxox
