Update for Mona

My dear sponsors,

How are you doing? Can you believe that this is my last update for 2015? This year has gone by quickly for me, with many joys and some sorrows. I especially appreciate the quiet joys of peaceful days and nights, surrounded by my many feline and human friends.

I have spent most of my time lately indoors, although on warm days, I still enjoy venturing out to the solarium.

This month, however, there was some sad news. My dear friend Sonny, who shared our suite, was the special friend of another of our suite-mates, Buddy. Well, sadly, in the past few months, Sonny’s kidney disease progressed quickly. The people at Tabby’s Place tried to do everything that they could to help him get well. But it was impossible. It is so very sad, as he was only 6 years old. Still, I am glad that Sonny was able to spend his last months with us. I know that this time was very precious to him, and we all loved him so much. This is what makes Tabby’s Place so special: cats who are FIV+ can be loved and cared for — and even adopted.

I am sure that Buddy is really missing his friend. I tried to spend some extra time with Buddy so that he didn’t feel so lonely, and hopefully we all will help Buddy through this loss.

The rest of us in the FIV+ suite have been healthy. I have felt fit as a fiddle, and have been especially welcoming to visitors. I have to say that I actually look forward to being around people these days.

In fact, I have a special language to let people know that I am feeling friendly. Do you know how cats do that? They blink! When a cat greets someone by slowly closing (and then opening) her eyes, she is indicating trust. This slow blinking is known as a cat kiss. When the person responds in the same way–slowly blinking–then I know that we are on the same page, and that we are friends.

I love all of you for making this year possible for me at Tabby’s Place. I wish you good health, happiness, peace, and kindness in the New Year, and hope that you might stop in for a visit. We can practice our cat kisses.

xoxoxo
