Update for McNulty

Update for McNulty

Hello, dear friends,

I have much to tell you about our sweet boy because a lot has been going on, and I want to be honest with you about this: things are difficult for McNulty right now. You may recall that during last month’s update, we talked about McNulty’s annual lab work revealing an escalation in his kidney disease. Well, over the past few weeks, we’ve noticed some weight loss and lethargy as well. We repeated his lab work, and his kidney values took another sizable jump, despite his treatment with a renal diet, appetite stimulant, and subcutaneous fluid therapy.

Our wonderful medical team did an ultrasound to see if they could figure out what might be going on, and all was normal, except McNulty’s kidneys, which were larger than expected. As of this past Wednesday, McNulty has been in our hospital area where we are doing everything we can to find out what’s going on and to get him feeling better. According to our amazing Senior Veterinary Technician, Denise, McNulty has been “brighter and eating very well,” since starting IV therapy. And, since he’s regained the lost weight, we’ve been able to discontinue the appetite stimulant.

It’s also probably a good thing that McNulty is getting the VIP treatment in our hospital, too, because Suite FIV+ suffered a serious ringworm outbreak this month. Five of our kitties (Charlie, Chachi, Cisco, Shea, and Rogue) are currently undergoing our ringworm protocol, which means a three-week-plus quarantine, with dips in lime sulfur solution. As an added precaution, we dipped the symptom-free members of Suite FIV+ once, including Mr. McN, and thoroughly disinfected the suite.

I wish I could welcome these increasingly warmer months with some brighter news, but the truth is we’re very worried about our boy. We love McNulty so very, very much, and we are doing everything we can to give him the best possible medical care.

It’s times like this when we are most grateful for your support. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for being McNulty’s friend and sponsor. Through your love and generosity, we are able to provide our sweet boy with everything he needs.

McNulty thanks you, too. Please send all your good thoughts, vibes, and energy to him this month. I promise to keep you updated.

Be well, friends.
