Update for Max

Hello,

My correspondent Kim will often allow me the pleasure of putting “pen to paw” and writing my own update. I hope you are enjoying the summer season, as it gets off to a warm start!

I, too, am enjoying the summertime weather as I look out of the big picture windows of the Community Room I now call home. I am glad that the staff understands my preference for stretching out across their meeting table each day. After all, we cats like to have a say in what is being discussed, too! As a patriarch figure here at Tabby’s Place, I am a wise choice of feline representative (even if I was self-appointed).

We cats that moved to this wide open space had some adjustments to make when we first relocated from our previous suites of residency. Yes, there were some tough days while we got settled. Gradual introductions to our new surroundings and to our new roomies were done with staff supervision. All in all, I think we did okay.

But sometimes, old habits are hard to break…

The staff is a little concerned about suspected “bullying” that might be happening around mealtime, as cats with (shall we say) stronger personalities tend to shoo the shyer cats away from the food dishes. A slight weight loss seen in the shyer cats was a clue that pointed our kind caretakers to this conclusion. The solution is easy: more food dishes!

As for me, while I look forward to my meals, weight loss is more than a “slight” concern. At the beginning of this month, I had a bout of vomiting. That did pass, but in the meantime, I am being monitored closely, weighed on a weekly basis, and will be provided an anti-nausea medication to calm my tummy if the vomiting recurs. My correspondent thought I looked handsome and svelte at our last visit. I was happy to see her; we enjoy our time together.

I remain very grateful for the gifts that you send so faithfully each month to Tabby’s Place; they allow me to be the best boy I can be! I hope you will take a moment to consider a donation to our Linda Fund, which provides life-saving care for the neediest of cats. Named for a darling little kitten named Linda who suffered horrendous injuries and required specialized emergency care to save her life, donations received during the next 31 days will be matched by a group of anonymous and kind-hearted donors. It is a wonderful time to consider donating. To learn more, please follow the link to our webpage: www.tabbysplace.org.

From my sunny windowsill at Tabby’s Place, I wish you summer days filled with fun and love.
