Update for Max

Hello Sponsors!

Every so often, my correspondent Kim allows me to put pen to paw and write my own update.

I have been introduced to some new roommates this past month. When Leila arrived, she immediately took over my perch as her very own. Once upon a time, this would have bothered me, and I would have had to share that feeling with her in no uncertain terms. However, I have honored Leila’s wishes and allowed her to occupy the perch comfortably. I told Kim that I am complying in the true spirit of Halloween. The perch brings to mind the black ravens of Halloween folklore, who were also fond of perches and tall resting places.

Also in the spirit of the season, I have extended a friendly welcome to new roommate Sparkly. Although she’s nervous, Sparkly is OK in my book. Her name reminds me of the eyes of a Jack-o-Lantern, sparkling once the candle is lit inside.

Then there is Kim. What do I do with her? She loves the colors, traditions, and costumes of Halloween. She says you can be anything or anybody you want to be, just for one day. As she draped a colorful fall blanket over a chair for a nice photo of yours truly, I had to let her know that I was having none of it. Sorry, but I was not in a photogenic mood. She humored me…and told me how handsome I am. At that point, I finally had to give in.

I had everyone here a little worried when recent blood work showed that I had anemia. The vet team gave me an iron supplement, and I am happy to report that my levels have improved. My weight also dropped a bit this month. The staff is keeping a close eye on it, weighing me regularly.

Thank you, dear sponsors, for your generous gifts. You help me to be the best boy that I can be. My spirit is filled with joy that you care about me. All the Halloween treats in the world could never take the place of God’s most gracious gift of all: love.

I am truly blessed.

Love,

Max
