Update for Max

Update for Max

Happy Summer, Max supporters!

Summer — it’s the time for barbeques, lounging at the pool, going on vacation and soaking up the sun. I absolutely love summer because of the long days, warm weather and spending time with friends.

Summer is also the season for major newsworthy events: the beginning of the OJ Simpson saga, the Great New York City Blackout of 1977, the fall of the Soviet Union, Michael Phelps’ record-breaking performance at the Beijing Olympics… In keeping with the summer news tradition, there is some major news concerning Max.

Max has been weaned completely off his medications!

That’s right; Max is now drug-free. As someone who has been following his progress, you know what a major breakthrough this is. In just nine short months, Max has gone from being unable to be around another cat without self-mutilation to living with two other cats. This, of course, is not to say that Max particularly enjoys his roommates. In fact, Trey continues to be the bane of Max’s existence. There seems to be a competition to see who the alpha male is, and currently, Trey is winning. Obviously, this does not make Max happy, but the fact that he can share his space without needing medication is a major break though.

I have heard rumors that once Max becomes acclimated to his drug-free lifestyle, the staff will try to see how he reacts to new and different roommates. This, however, is far on the horizon. For now, the most important thing that Max does not self-mutilate now that he is unmedicated and that he is happy. So far, things look good. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that this progress continues.

Of course, none of this would be possible without your generous donations. For you generosity, I am truly grateful. I wish you a healthy, happy, fun, and safe summer! I look forward to sharing with you whatever the next month will bring to Maxland. Until then, take care and thank you again.
