Update for Max

Hello dearest sponsors,

Every so often, my correspondent Kim lets me put pen to paw and write my own update. It has been a few months since I have done this, and we agreed it is time again.

During this past month, the vet team checked up on me for my ongoing weight fluctuations. These minor changes are typical among aging cats. However, our diligent staff wanted to make absolutely sure that there was nothing else going on. I am happy to report that my bloodwork and additional diagnostics were all very good…with one exception. My bloodwork indicated that I am now hyperthyroid.

Hyperthyroidism is a hormonal disorder that affects many cats as they age. The thyroid gland starts producing excess amounts of thyroid hormones. Most cats respond well to medication, and live healthy and happy lives. Our veterinary staff has assured me that I will be one of those cats. I’ve started this simple daily treatment, and I know I will do well under their expert care.

On a fun note, I had some playtime with Kim during our last visit. She came into the suite with a worried look on her face. Once she saw me, I gave her my best “melt your heart” look with my big green eyes. I saw her relieved smile.

Trying to keep our visit upbeat, I showed her my latest tricks with the cat water fountain. I was proud to demonstrate how I can take my right paw and flick the water up into my mouth. When Kim got too close, I was able to flick that water in her direction with a splash, too! Later, I did show her that I could be a good boy, and drank happily from the flow spout. While I could use the bowl part at the base of the fountain, why settle for that, with all of these other fun options?

Thank you for reading my update today. I will continue to keep you posted on my progress. I remain grateful for your generosity. You’re helping me to remain healthy, happy, and as frisky as ever.

With love,

MAX
