Update for Max

Hello, friends of Max!

Spring weather is finally here, and I know I speak for most of us at Tabby’s Place when I say we are delighted. That goes for the cats, too. When I visit, I see many cats out in the solaria, where they can enjoy the sun and hear the birds chirp.

While Max’s suite does not include a solarium, it does offer an unmatched view of the lobby, as well as the sunshine and smiles coming in the front door. Max prefers watching human activity to anything outside, and he’s grateful for every nod, smile and wave that he receives.

There were two new additions to Max’s suite this month, and we weren’t sure how he would react to either of them. One was a beautiful senior cat named Racquel, who is gradually being introduced to the room. This process begins with the new cat in a large wire crate (full of cozy blankets, of course). This introduction allows the newcomer to see her roommates, and vice versa, before they have to interact directly. Once accustomed to the sights, sounds, and smells of a new home, the new cat is allowed to explore the suite.

Here is where our Max slips in…and I do mean, literally slips in. He is curious about that crate, and when Racquel departs it to explore, he invites himself in to explore it. Max has been found taking his siestas on Racquel’s fluffy beds inside the crate. Racquel does not seem to mind, so all is well.

The other new addition to the suite is an electric cat drinking fountain. We have a little bit of concern, given Max’s history of chewing strings and cords. But, we’ll monitor things closely. Plus, Max’s new fountain sports protective wrap around its cord, to prevent nibblers from any risk of shock. I am pleased to report that Max likes the new fountain. He’s enjoying the flowing water, and so far he has no interest in the cord.

As we move towards another sunny summer, we cheer for Max’s good veterinary reports and smile at his sense of nobility. On behalf of our favorite tabby, thank your for your generosity!
