Every now and then, my correspondent Kim asks me to put pen to paw and write my own update. How nice of her to do so in honor of Valentine’s Day.
This holiday makes everyone a little sentimental — and that includes cats. It makes us pause, take a look around, and see the many things in our lives for which to be thankful. As I look around my suite, I see my wonderful feline roommates, who provide me with companionship each day. At night, I am grateful to snuggle next to my friend Sammy. I take much joy in my special friendship with this timid cat. I hope our bond has helped to ease her out of her shyness and to make her more comfortable at Tabby’s Place.
I am also grateful for the wonderful care provided to me by staff and volunteers. My recent unexplained weight loss was not missed by the many attentive eyes who watch me each day. Tests showed nothing conclusive, and those same eyes will continue to watch me and to monitor my weight closely. I rest secure in the knowledge that if anything were ever amiss, I am in the best of hands. Tabby’s Place will always care for me with much love and tenderness.
Finally, I remain grateful to my wonderful sponsors. You so faithfully help to provide for my needs. You know, it’s tough being such a great guy. My role of Lobby Overseer means that I am often the first cat a visitor will see at eye-level when walking into Tabby’s Place. Visitors don’t have to look down to see me, like those cats who rest on comfy floor nests. They don’t have to nod to those reclining on the couches and chairs. They look straight ahead, and there I am, perched and ready with my big green eyes and alluring cat-smile. It’s a tough role, but somebody has to do it. I am proud that the role remains mine.
I thank you for always understanding this, and for your most gracious gifts.
Happy Valentine’s Day,
Max
