The fall season is upon us. On my recent visit to Tabby’s Place, I looked forward to staging a festive autumn photo of Max.
Upon arriving at Max’s suite, I opened his door, expecting a little “cat smile” and gleam of recognition in his eye. Max was not on his perch; instead, his roommate Sherpa was looking back at me. Thinking how gracious it was of Max to share his special spot, I spoke with our Himalayan, asking him where I might find Max.
Max was nowhere in sight, and I was getting a little concerned. All of a sudden, a head popped out from the crate where Eek takes her siestas. I saw Max’s big green eyes looking back at me and encouraged him to come and sit near me. He was having none of it.
Then I heard the banging of the construction crew just down the hall from Max’s suite. No wonder he and the others looked a little annoyed.
Max has been blessed with another month of good health. His gorgeous eyes just glow, and they have a special magic about them that pulls many visitors towards his suite. Visitors often ask about Max when they see him on his perch and find his history of unpredictability quite interesting. It is often hard for them to contemplate that once upon a time, Max was a lot feistier and more unpredictable.
The Max we know and love today is a little bit calmer, and much wiser. I think he has found that this will help him make friends, both feline and human. However, we never know if that other side of Max will present itself again. For that reason, he remains the only cat at Tabby’s Place who is not available for adoption. This is for the safety and protection of not only potential adopters, but also their other pets.
Fear not, our darling Max, because this is a good thing! It means we get the honor and privilege of always providing the care that you need. We are grateful for the generous gifts of your sponsors, who know and love you.
It is not necessary for you to show us the “Halloween Cat” side of your personality in honor of the upcoming holiday. We know it’s in there somewhere, and if it ever does present itself again, we are still going to love you, now and always.
