Update for Max

Dearest Max,

I hope you don’t mind me writing this “open letter” to you. As your cat correspondent, part of my role is to bring your news to your sponsors, be it medical, social, or just plain cat fun. Another part of that role is to be the eyes and ears for sponsors who cannot get to the sanctuary to visit you personally. Your sponsors know what you look like; it is MY job to let them know if something looks or sounds a little different. Sometimes “no news is good news”; status quo and in good health is a fortunate position of blessing.

It is that state that was the inspiration of this letter. Sometimes, when the chips are down in my life, and responsibilities seem scattered in so many directions I wonder how I will keep up, I run away (yes, Max, adults DO run away!). The car seems to know right where to go, as it heads to Tabby’s Place. Once there and in your suite, I can relax and do some sorting and organizing in my mind while we visit. This was one of those months, and instead of me taking care of you, you took care of me! I found your company reassuring, and that you made no comment but just listened with those big eyes of yours a gift in itself.

What I found most reassuring, though, was your confidence. Your regal stance and nobility somehow gave me the confidence I needed to put things back in their proper prospective. As we celebrated Independence Day, I thought of past presidents who shared that noble look when painted; some were simple farmers in whom others had faith. Once upon a time, a woman who writes advice articles said that if you believe in your own confidence, then it is so, and others will soon see you that way. However it happened, I found your self-confidence admirable, and somehow rubbing off on me.

Thank you, dear Max, for being a good friend through thick and thin. We are all grateful to your wonderful sponsors for their faith in you, and for their most gracious gifts each month. They help to provide for the good care that makes you so magnificent.

Thank you for the joy you bring to all who read here.

Your loving correspondent,

Kim
