Update for Max

Greetings to sponsors of our Valentine, Max.

You never know when Cupid’s arrow will strike!
It has been said that if you are the recipient of that arrow, you will fall hopelessly in love with the next person you meet. Do you think this legend applies to cats?

Cupid has certainly been busy at Tabby’s Place lately, with wonderful adoptions, including cats who have been at the sanctuary for a long time. Trey, Max’s longtime roommate, was one of these happy adoptees, and his new family sent photos of him in loving surroundings, embraced by his new adopters and looking happy. I am sure that Max would be pleased to see his old friend Trey so content.

However, Cupid has also been pretty busy right in Max’s suite. Yes indeed, Max has found a new best friend with the addition of Sammy to Adoption Room #1 a few weeks ago. Their friendship seems to have deepened; dare I say it may be something more?

Such an attachment is unusual for our boy Max. Whispers in our hallways echo the same question: Why, after all these years, and all of the cat companions Max has known, has he developed a special fondness for Sammy?

She is a very pretty female, and seems as smitten as is our Max. Together, they sit on the perch from which Max once ruled alone, watching over the lobby activity. They siesta together on the comfortable chairs in their suite, or in adjoining nooks of their cat tree. Where one big set of green eyes once beckoned me with a smile of recognition, there are now two sets twinkling when I enter their room. It has been a pleasure to watch Max enjoying the company of another cat, and to see Sammy bloom from a shy little feline to a braver, bolder cat under Max’s guidance.

In other news, while most of us make a New Year’s resolution to lose weight, a recent check of Max’s weight showed us a gain. Now, Max has gained weight in the past, and later lost it gradually, so our staff is not concerned.

Valentine’s Day celebrates the love we have for one another. On behalf of Tabby’s Place, I would like to thank you for your faithful sponsorship of Max, and for loving him so. Until next month, Max will continue to “count the ways” in which he loves us all, as we enjoy watching the lovebirds in the suite he is blessed to call home.
