Update for Max

Hello, and Happy New Year!

Every now and then, my correspondent Kim allows me the pleasure of putting pen to paw and writing my own update. It’s a treat for me to share my news and my hopes for the upcoming year.

During Kim’s recent visits, she has been surprised to find me sharing my beloved perch with a beautiful feline named Sammy. A shy cat, Sammy has started to know and understand that she has nothing to fear at Tabby’s Place. Everyone here will treat her with love and kindness. Her confidence is growing as she begins to blossom under the good care she receives. As you can see in the photo below, she is no longer spending her days tucked under the chair or hiding under blankets.

Kim told me that everyone was singing my praises when I offered to share my special seat overlooking the lobby with Sammy. It’s nice to make a new friend and to welcome her to Tabby’s Place. The big question is, why haven’t I ever done this with any other cat?

As you know, I have not always been so welcoming with other roommates. Thoughts of senior cat Gigi come to mind. Everyone considered it a blessing, indeed, when Gigi was adopted into her forever home. As Kim has stated in the past, just like humans, we cats just like some cats better than others.

Just take a look at gorgeous Sammy; the glow in her eyes will only get brighter as her confidence builds. Tabby’s Place’s Founder and Executive Director, Jonathan stood outside my door recently as he and Kim discussed the question, “Why Sammy?” Well, in my own defense, take a look at this pretty cat, and ask, “why NOT?”

As we look to the future here at Tabby’s Place, not only will I continue to help my new friend Sammy build her confidence, but I look forward to watching from my perch as we expand our mission in 2014. We plan to help stray and feral cats in our community. Our Targeted Trap-Neuter-Return (T2NR) program will help us to reach the Tabby’s Place cats’ free-roaming cousins. We estimate that there are over 1,000 outdoor cats in our target area need of help. This program will allow us to locate the cats in need, spay/neuter and provide their medical care, and return them to their safe, monitored cat colonies outdoors. We will work with the local community and assist with relocation of these needy cats if their current living conditions are not safe. You can learn more about this program by clicking here.

I wish for you, my sponsors, the happiest and healthiest New Year! I am very grateful for your most generous gifts each month, and for your continued support.

Love,

Max
