Update for Max

Hello, friends of Max,

This month, Max was scheduled for regular blood work, an annual routine for most of the Tabby’s Place cats. I am happy to report that all is well with Max.

Max seemed affectionate and happy to see me on our last visit. I had quite a conversation with him as I went around his room and greeted his new roommates, Sammy and Sneaky. Space opened up in Max’s suite following the recent adoptions of Peggy Sue, a blind cat, and Flower, a kind older cat. Max seemed to handle this transition well, though he has earned a reputation for being less than welcoming.

Both new residents of Max’s suite are shy. Sammy is also a Special Needs cat, as she was born with a hole in her heart. Although this is not a life-threatening condition right now, she requires cardiac ultrasounds twice a year. We hope that Max’s smaller suite will help Sammy to make new cat friends and become more social with humans.

Sneaky, who came to Tabby’s Place through our Targeted Trap-Neuter-Return work, has come a long way in learning to trust humans. As with Sammy, so for Sneaky, we’re hopeful that a small suite will help us to socialize her.

So far, Max seems undaunted by this change of roommates, choosing to simply ignore Sneaky and Sammy. Stay tuned for further developments, as these two beauties are sure to blossom under our care (and Max’s supervision).

As always, Max enjoys sitting on his window perch, which looks out over the Tabby’s Place lobby. He is content to watch the comings and goings of visitors, staff, and volunteers. When you walk into the lobby and he recognizes you, Max will give you his “come hither” stare. He allows no excuses on my part for attending to other matters prior to visiting with him. He would like me to visit immediately. It is hard to resist his gaze with those big, green eyes. I usually can’t, and will rearrange whatever else I need to do to get to Max in a timely manner.

Thank you, as always, all for the love, care, and support you offer magnificent Max!
