I have been a long-time volunteer and Special Needs cat correspondent for Tabby’s Place, and both roles add much joy to my life. Each month, as we approach the deadline for Max’s update, I journey to Tabby’s Place especially to photograph him. Although photographing Max is not a requirement of the job, it is something I have always enjoyed. I like submitting my own photos, especially if they coincide with the theme of my update. It also saves our staff members the time of doing the photos themselves. Both Max and Trey (for whom I also write) are very photogenic, and they seem to welcome the chance to be shining stars.
The fun part of doing this is picking the props. As October is my favorite month, I was looking forward to picking some nice colors similar to the leaves that are starting to fall outside. A nice rust or orange background would make both of my cats look wonderful, so off I went to the Tabby’s Place laundry room. This is where the fun begins, because there are many clean towels, blankets, soft beds, and accent pieces to choose from. It would be a special treat for Max if that colorful item was fresh from the dryer, nice and toasty warm. I was delighted to find just what I was looking for, and proceeded to Adoption Room 1.
It was time to prepare the props! That beautiful rust-colored blanket would accent Max’s big eyes and stripes just wonderfully. However, I was surprised to find Max uncooperative. Usually fond of the undivided attention, Max would not sit on the pretty fall-colored blanket. No worries; I had found a bright red knitted afghan already in his suite. We would try that instead.
Thank you, but no, our Max seemed to say; I just am not in the right spirit for our photo shoot today. As you can see below left, Max preferred the cat tree itself to anything I was offering. So much for featuring our fellow on fall colors.
Max has been blessed with good health, and thrives under the love and care he receives at Tabby’s Place. He is adored, which he clearly understands. Max and I would like to take a moment together to thank you, his sponsors, for your generous gifts each month. You allow Max to receive the tender loving care he needs to remain a shining star.
