Update for Max

Dearest Sponsors,

Every so often, my correspondent Kim allows me to put “pen to paw” and write my own update. I am grateful for the opportunity to chat with you myself and bring you my own news.

I saw Kim leafing back through some older updates about me this month, and I was wondering why. She said she was looking back to this time last year, out of curiosity, to see what I was up to. Looks like I was causing a little “cat commotion” in my suite, with roommates Kylie, Emilia, and Lizzie. Though I no longer reside with the same cat companions, Kim says she doesn’t think my behavior has changed much. She has been noticing that I have been a little on the grumpy side lately and she cannot understand why. I have many volunteer friends, the staff adores me and Kim thinks I have nice feline roommates.

Well, that’s what Kim thinks. I tend not to agree. I am not so fond of senior cat Gigi. You could say maybe it’s just one of those “cat things.” You could say Gigi has done nothing to offend me, really. However, she talks back a lot! In fact, there are days the staff has to ignore what sounds like a full blown cat fight, but it’s just Gigi and I sitting in our own spots yelling at one another.

Kim has it figured out pretty well, thankfully – she said with humans, sometimes you just like certain people more than others. Same goes with cats, I guess…although the talking back doesn’t help, either. Kim understands, though; that’s just another reason she’s such a good correspondent for me – she gets me.

When Kim looked back to this time two years ago, she saw that in July 2011, I was just weaning off of behavioral medications, and everyone was concerned about how I would fare. I know I have worked hard and done very well in the past two years – after all, I am “Magnificent Max” and I do rule all. Of course, I have been helped along by a great deal of patience and understanding. Other felines will have to do some understanding of their own, too.

Don’t worry, friends, because the staff of Tabby’s Place keeps a close eye on what I am up to. The arguments with Gigi haven’t escalated. I know if I was having any true difficulties, I would receive any additional care necessary for my comfort and well-being.

I sensed this month that Kim was upset, and as we spent time together, she explained about the sudden passing of Tabby’s Place cat Dillinger. He, too, was a favorite of hers. Dillinger came from a very sad past and required a lot of medical care during his stay at the sanctuary. Dillinger was responding well to his treatments for his recent diagnosis of lymphoma, and everyone here was hopeful. His sudden decline and unexpected passing was a reminder to me of the blessing of my own good health. A little grouchiness is ok, as long as my health is good, right?

I am thankful to call you my friends and am grateful for your most gracious gifts each month. They allow me to live my life in good health, contentment and my own special brand of confidence.

Your favorite boy,
Max
