Spring is finally here, in full bloom. At Tabby’s Place, spring brings a number of positive changes. The grounds are green and beautiful, and the solaria are populated by cats who want a breath of that good, fresh country air. Spring also brings more visitors and volunteers to Tabby’s Place, and the cats sure enjoy the additional attention.
Our boy, Max, enjoys sitting in his window perch overlooking the Lobby. From this spot, he can see the comings and goings of guests, staff and volunteers. He can also see the other cat activity, as this special perch allows him to see into the other suites that face the lobby area. Max likes this, and seems almost noble, sitting in what appears a supervisory role. He makes sure all is as it should be, and seems to enjoy his part in doing so.
However, Max showed his true gentlemanly colors a few weeks ago, with the addition of senior cat Gigi to his suite.
However, Gigi’s interest in Max’s perch did not go unnoticed. What would our boy do?! We waited with bated breath, and Max amazed us. Being a kind cat, Max turned over his special seat to Gigi. We hope that the activity in the Lobby and the smiles of visitors will help to lift her spirits.
During our last visit, Max seemed like he had something he wanted to share with me. (I was not aware of the relinquishment of his perch at the time of this visit). He climbed into my lap as I sat down, and we enjoyed some special quality time together. Max usually does not share my lap, so I was quite touched by his gesture.
He seemed thoughtful and appreciative of our quiet moment together. I realized what a real “gentleman cat” he has become. Later, when learning about “the perch,” I realized he really has become a gentleman in his golden years!
On behalf of Gentleman Max and everyone at Tabby’s Place, I wish you the brightest, prettiest and happiest of Springs! Thank you for your continued generosity to our sweet boy.
