Update for Max

Happy fall, Maxophiles!

Max would like to inform you that October is the official, internationally-recognized Month of Max. (Okay. By “internationally-recognized,” I mean “recognized by Max, whose ego is the size of multiple nations.” And, of course, January – September and November – December are also the Months of Max.)

In all seriousness, our big-attitude boy has a big-time affinity for the month of pumpkins and trick-or-treaters. Max has no interest in Halloween, per se…but October brings Catoberfest to Tabby’s Place, and, well, that’s one of Max’s all-time favorite phenomena.

Max’s love for October started way back when Catoberfest was just a little microchipping clinic, c. 2008. Tabby’s Place first held the event to celebrate our 5th anniversary, and to help out cats and dogs in the community by offering low-cost microchipping. That was all well and good…but Max immediately stole the show.

There were people. In the lobby. By the dozens. And Max…Max was in his glory, working full-on flirt mode in the window of his room. I don’t know that I’d ever seen our tabby boy so euphoric as he was when he was performing for his fawning audience.

Max’s enthusiasm for Catoberfest – or, more accurately, its visitors – continued through 2009 and 2010, and reached its peak last year. That was the first year Catoberfest was actually called Catoberfest – and what a fest it was. Max proved that he can ‘fest with the best as he put on his rubby, meowy, “LOOK AT ME!” show for the 500+ folks who walked through Tabby’s Place on the big day.

Now, dear sponsors, he’s ready to do it again.

When Catoberfest returns to Tabby’s Place on Saturday, October 6th, Max sure hopes he’ll get to fawn all over you. He loves all sorts of visitors…but ordinary humans pale in comparison to his very own sponsors.

Catoberfest will include a colossal silent auction, book signing by Gwen Cooper (of Homer’s Odyssey), more low-cost microchipping, all kinds of vendors and lectures and goodies…but, most importantly, it will include Max.

So you’re coming, right?

Just in case something keeps you from attending (and I warn you that the only excuses Max will accept are your own wedding, falling through a break in the time/space continuum, or watching a marathon of Melrose Place), you can still join in the fun of Catoberfest online. Starting this Monday (9/17), you can bid in Max’s – er, the kitties’ – silent auction here.

But Max and I sure do hope we’ll get to see you in person.

In the meantime, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for giving this big tabby marvel such a happy, healthy life. Max is in fine fettle and loving his life – and that has everything to do with you! Thank you again, and have a blessed start to fall.
