Happy July, Max adorers.
It’s a midsummer night’s dream as far as Max is concerned. Our feline mastermind has devised a new way to regain his kingdom and declare independence from the rest of the feline species. It’s ingenious, really: Max has decided to try sending his roommates to Abu Dhabi.
Well, he tried, anyway. The farthest he could get them to go was Flemington (approximately 10-15 minutes from Tabby’s Place) – but that would be good enough, as long as they stayed away.
Tabby’s Place is the shelter partner of the Flemington PetSmart. At any given time, 4-6 of our cats are on display as adoptables at PetSmart (they prefer to think of themselves as resident scholars), and their sojourn their lasts up to a week before they come “home” to Tabby’s Place (or, in the best case scenario, are happily adopted).
For one brief and glorious window of time, Max was able to convince his human servants to banish both Kylie and Lizzie to PetSmart. That meant just one especially-timid roommate for him (shy, sweet Emilia). Happy Independence Day, indeed.
Alas, Lizzie and Kylie aren’t quite as easy to manipulate as Max expected, and they found their way back. (OK, we went and picked them up. But we do exist to do their bidding.) Adoption Room #2 is, therefore, again home to four cats…or three cats too many, if you ask Max.
Still, our long, leggy tabby is making the best of the situation. (By which I mean “allowing his roommates to live and not attacking humans.” This is a major gesture of generosity.) If you wander into Adoption Room #2, Max is reliably the first and giddiest to greet you, his eyes locked on yours the instant you enter. He’s been downright delightful with all visitors this month, encouraging us that our wonderful, complicated boy has again settled into a good groove at Tabby’s Place.
Medically speaking, marvelous Max is as right as rain. His weight has ceased to be a concern, and he’s feeling at the top of his game as he stretches his endless legs in “his” window each day. Life is good on Planet Max.
Now if he could just get those other cats adopted, he might taste perfection. 😉
Meantime, thank you, dear sponsors, for giving our boy such a sweet life, and all the patience, understanding and affection he deserves. Max is blessed in a big way to have you as his sponsor and friend.
