Happy Spring, Max Maniax!
Every month I try to write updates that are both informative and entertaining. I try to think of some amusing anecdote from my own experiences that tangentially relates to something in Max’s life. As you know, Max is quite the character, so it’s been easy to be creative…
…until the past few months, that is. See, after living up to his crazy reputation for so long, Max has become…well, boring. He sleeps on the settee like a normal cat, eats his food like a normal cat, and is even wishy-washy like a normal cat (meaning sometimes he’s happy to see me and is very affectionate and other times not so much).
Yes, Maniax, Max is normal…or as normal as a cat who needs Prozac can be. Gone are the loud warning meows, the Battle Royales with Trey, the easy-to-agitate demeanor, and, most importantly, gone is the self-mutilating behavior. In fact, Max has become so chill that people claim to have seen Max canoodling with Cypress and Trey! I know; I don’t quite believe it, either, because I didn’t see it, but I have it on good authority.
While I am over the moon with happy, well-adjusted, “normal” Max, it does make writing entertaining and clever updates very difficult, and, for that, I apologize. I think you’ll agree, however, that it’s better to receive boring, “Max is happy” updates than to have amusing ones recounting a month of trauma-drama. Max is one special kitty and it’s so wonderful to see him content.
I am in awe when I compare the April 2011 Max to the isolated and unhappy boy I met in October 2009. He has come so far — from attacking his tail at the mere sight of another cat to being 1/3 of an Adoption Room #2 sandwich. I know I say it every month, but it bears repeating: none of this would be possible without your generosity. Thank you so much for providing the resources necessary to make our favorite big guy happy. See you next month, hopefully with another boring update. Be well!
