Update for Max

Update for Max

Dear Max Supporters,

o/~ Turn around and you’re tiny; turn around and you’re grown. o/~

So went my eighth grade graduation song. I’m sure there were lyrics of soaring eagles, climbing mountains, and every other cliché that comes with a rite of passage. In many ways, this update marks a rite of passage for our favorite crazy cat. Can you believe that you received your first Max update one year ago today?

Over the past 12 months, Max has come a long way. You may recall that, a year ago, Max could not tolerate any other felines, but now lives peacefully with two. Sure, there have been many stumbling blocks along the way; you cannot deny, however, that Max is happy living in Adoption Room #2.

The other milestone — the one I am most happy to report — is how well-adjusted and socially engaged Max has become. When Max first went on Prozac, there were rumors that he was not as affectionate as he was on the other medication. This has proven not to be the case.

Whenever I visit him, he is very happy to see me, actively seeks my attention, and purrs loudly in appreciation. Unlike in the past, where he would say hello, receive a pat, and then walk away, he will now allow me to pet him all day.

This desire for affection is not limited only to me. On October 9th, Tabby’s Place held its annual Open House and Microchipping Clinic . Guess who stole the show. That’s right: none other than our Max! See, Max has become what I have labeled a quasi-lobby cat. Both Adoption Room #1 and #2 have windows that overlook the lobby. Max’s crate sits under this window, and, chances are, he is sitting on top of the crate and chatting up visitors from behind the glass.

During the Open House, Max played his quasi-lobby cat role. Afterward, several attendees sent in their pictures of Max. Both pictures featured in this month’s update are the pictures taken by the visitors. Several more can be found here. Based on what I’ve seen and heard, Max really loves his new role.

During this season of Thanksgiving, I am truly thankful for everything you have done to support the Max-man. Thanks to your generosity, he has made huge strides toward a happy, normal life. I look forward to seeing what the next year will bring. Max and I sincerely wish you a happy Thanksgiving.
