Update for Macaroon

Happy February, Mac sponsors,

This month of love has brought a bit of excitement to Macaroon’s home base. Macaroon, Missy, and Virginia
welcomed Simba, the only male in the all-girls club, to Danielle’s office. Simba is known for his volatile behavior and serious aggression towards people. Previously Simba was in one of the larger suites where there are many cats and lots of humans in and out on a regular basis. We’re hopeful that the quiet, smaller, peaceful environment in Danielle’s office (and Danielle’s patient monitoring) will help him. There have been reports of a few scuffles between Simba and the girls, but nothing of serious concern. Last time I visited Mac, Simba had settled into a cozy space behind Danielle’s computer monitor and I saw no evidence of any bad behavior from him during my visit.

Another newcomer to Mac’s room is Sophia, who was previously in the community room. Sophia is a long-haired black and white girl who is on the quiet side but loves food and attention. Her long fur got a bit matted lately (sometimes a kitty just isn’t as perfect at their grooming routine as we’d like!), so she, along with several other Tabby’s Place long-haired beauties, got their early spring shave down. This really helps them grow their fur back to a wonderful, smooth and lovely base that looks marvelous.

A recent visit I had with Mac was fabulous and quite a bit different from most prior visits. Normally I would play the wand toy with our energetic girl but that day I went in without it, to see what might transpire. Lo and behold, adorable Macaroon trotted right over and encouraged me to take a spot on the floor, after which she immediately curled up in my lap and turned on her purring machine. That day she was all about getting petted, rather than playing. Virginia decided that the petting was a great idea for her, too, so she came over and possessed my other hand for just that purpose. Mac was not thrilled with sharing the spotlight so a little hissing went on, but Virginia persisted and Mac calmed down and just enjoyed being the main lap resident and petting recipient. I sat there with them for quite a while, until my knees told me it was time to get up from the floor!

Mac herself has enjoyed great health this month and is taking advantage of the extra space from having fewer roommates since Reese, Jackie
and Zencada moved next door. Her eating routine is regular, and she is looking great and bringing her usual charm to everyone who visits. She’s looking forward to even more visitors as the weather softens and the sun shines longer and more intensely as spring approaches.

Anatole France said, “Until one has loved an animal, part of their soul remains unawakened.” In this month when love is at the forefront, thank you for your continuous love for Macaroon. Your generosity keeps our black beauty happy and healthy and awakening many souls as new folks get to know her and love her as we do. Happy Valentine’s month!
