Dear amazing sponsors of Macaroon,
I want to start by letting you know that Susan has moved on to volunteering in other areas at Tabby’s Place, so I am honored to come on board as Macaroon’s correspondent. I look forward to bringing you the latest news of our beautiful girl!
Big Mac has very little medical and social news to report this month, which is just the way we like it! Macaroon is thriving in her new digs, which she shares with some oversized personalities. She is getting along beautifully with her room mates, finding a perfect balance of her own queen-sized spirit and theirs. And more good news: Mac has enjoyed stable good health in June, so no worries there.
Our black beauty loves the attention she gets from frequent visitors and the view of the outside world from the wide window. When I visit with her she is so very loving and relaxed (as you can see from the picture) but can also be quite playful when I bring the wand toy.
This past month saw a bumper crop of visitors between our annual Kitten Shower and first-ever Cat Yoga class (yes, you heard it!). Though Macaroon didn’t actively participate in either event (can you just see Mac doing a warrior pose?), she certainly felt the place buzzing with activity and welcomed with open paws those who stopped in to see her.
The Kitten shower was a huge success as so many adopters got to put forth their applications for the kittens and a slew of fur babies secured their forever home. The first-ever Cat Yoga class produced some fun dynamics in the lobby, as kitties decided that yoga wasn’t just for the humans who participated, but that cats have a natural affinity for all things involving stretching and weird poses!
There is always something new happening at Tabby’s Place. A new “enrichment program” is starting soon for all the cats and will include interactive toy play and puzzle enrichment. I don’t know all the details yet but it sounds like it will be a great way to keep the kitties engaged on a frequent basis and enrich their lives at Tabby’s Place. Combined with our behavior program (Befriending Fearful Felines) to draw out shy cats and our Comfort Buddy program to spend extra time with kitties, the furry babies get an incredible amount of love, attention, and opportunities to grow their social skills!
Another big happening is the annual Linda Fund Matching Challenge fundraiser, which starts this month. This is the year’s biggest fundraiser and focuses all the donations on the emergency and specialty care of our neediest cats, which includes our dear Macaroon. Donations are automatically doubled throughout the challenge because of wonderful benefactors and small businesses who put in the matching funds up front. If you are interested in learning more, or nudging your friends and family to donate, please visit our main home page at www.tabbysplace.org.
Mac is a delightful fur ball full of fun and love! As her new correspondent I am getting to know her better with each visit and will be sure to share any secrets I uncover about her personality.
The rarest gift is a true friend but the truest gift is a rare friend. Thank you for being that rare friend that Macaroon can count on for love and generosity to make her days at Tabby’s Place healthy and happy.
