Update for Luna

Dear Team Luna,

Ahh, the sounds of construction! Each day here at Tabby’s Place is a real bustle of activity.  After our groundbreaking ceremony for Quinn’s Corner, the crew went straight to work, and it is amazing how much they accomplish each day.  Unlike fireworks on the fourth of July, the noises emanating from the construction site are a welcome sound, and most everyone—cats and staff alike—are embracing them.  Of course, there are a few felines who feel a bit perturbed, but watching all the action is of great interest to many, many others.

The view from most of the solariums enables one to laze in the sun and keep an eye on the construction’s progress.  Of course, Luna can’t see the site from the hospital and lab windows, but stroller walks do give her an opportunity to put her two cents in on the day’s developments.  She isn’t keen on being prohibited from entering a hard hat area but, so far, she’s accepted our explanations that her hat hasn’t been delivered yet.  After all, a special order for a hat her size does take a little extra time!

On the health front, I’m sorry to report that Luna had another flare-up on her cheek this month.  The good news is it was nothing like the reaction she had to our failed food experiment last month. The staff continues to monitor her meds and her diet and, if nothing else, Luna’s struggles with allergies are providing Tabby’s Place with a wealth of information on how to treat other cats with the same issues.  Although she is sometimes uncomfortable, Luna takes great pride in being a medical trailblazer.  She’s willing to tolerate almost anything in the name of science and for the good of all catkind.

Top on the staff priority list in the medical suite right now is the installation of new cabinet doors.  Once these are in place, Luna may be given even greater freedom in the lab. You may recall that Luna has a special affinity for the bubbles traveling through the tubing of some of our lab equipment.  Observation simply isn’t enough—biting the bubbles is, for her, mandatory.  We really don’t understand the scientific value of this activity and Luna hasn’t deigned to tell us, so for at least the time being, we’re moving forward to protect her from herself.  And, of course, there is taking care of the expensive medical equipment, too!

Alas, there is no good news to report on the relationship between Angelo and Luna.  He will simply never be another Clark for her, and no one could replace the lovely Mary in Angelo’s affections.  For now, there is a staff monitored truce, and Denise, our senior veterinary assistant, sometimes must put Luna in her place.  Don’t get me wrong!  Luna is a great gal, but sometimes she can be a little uppity and just a bit moody, too. We try to cut her some slack because she really is a valuable asset to the Tabby’s Place community—AND, we know how much all of her sponsors love her.

Which reminds me: Luna loves you very much and is grateful for your kindness, care, and donations on her behalf.  She knows she wouldn’t have the wonderful life she has without you.
