Update for Luna

Dear Team Luna,

What is it they say? Medical personnel make the worst patients?  Well, our lovely Luna proves that adage correct!

Luna can be a real challenge to medicate, even when we can find a medication to which she isn’t allergic!  There were several occasions this month when she spit out her pills after her staff mates thought she had swallowed them.  After missing a couple of doses of meds, the skin under one of her eyes began to react with redness and itchiness—a flare-up of her allergies.  This is a reminder to us just how much care Luna needs on a regular basis.  We certainly gave her a stern lecture on “Physician, heal thyself,” and our delightful little lab partner seemed to pay attention.  The skin around her eye began to clear up and looked good again by month’s end.

Although Valentine’s Day is over, Luna and Clark continue to make progress in their relationship.  We’ve included a photo of the two of them together. Frankly, we couldn’t find the pair more charming.  Of course, there are times when Luna can be more than a bit “officious” when she has her professional cap on. After all, nothing must come before a by-the-numbers, buttoned up and smoothly operating medical suite.

Luna insists on it, and Clark sometimes finds her attitude off-putting and a little daunting.  It offends his sense of regal imperiousness, and you really don’t want to rub Clark the wrong way.  When Luna accepts Clark for who he is and allows him to think he is “master of his domain,” things seem to work out best.  Now, for Luna, that really can be a hard pill to swallow!

Our March update would not be complete without including some wonderful video footage of Luna playing at the wet table.  The vet team enjoyed this almost as much as Luna did, and it is a much better water sport for her than clawing and nipping at the saline bags in the storage cabinet.  One flood in the medical suite was certainly enough!

Once again, let me extend Luna’s heartfelt thanks for all of your support.  She knows that, without your help, she would not have the wonderful life she has here at Tabby’s Place.  And we don’t know what we would do in the lab without her.
