Update for Luna

Dear Team Luna,

It’s been a busy year so far in the Medical Suite and, when it comes to all things medical, there’s simply no “first responder” quite like Luna.  Dedicated and diligent, Luna focuses her complete attention on the health and wellbeing of every cat that comes to Tabby’s Place. Her primary concern as a caregiver is always the health and welfare of her feline friends.  Pouring over test results, recalibrating equipment, searching for solutions—Luna leaves no task unattended, no detail overlooked. When it comes to fulfilling her responsibilities and completing her duties, Luna is simply indefatigable!

Certainly, it should come as no surprise that Luna’s human labmates must sometimes step in and insist she takes time for herself. Getting the proper care for her own maladies is just as important to us as her work.  Let’s take a minute to talk about the steps we’ve taken this month to make sure Luna has a clean bill of health.

Luna was sedated this month to conduct a complete inspection of her ears. A polyp identified in one ear will require surgical referral. The medical staff also noted Luna has a middle ear infection.  Lab reports on her ear cytology indicate a “very resistant organism,” and she has some specially compounded medications on order.  Less concerning, Luna continues to deal with periodic nose boogers and skin flare-ups. Her most recent area of agitation is under one of her eyes but, all things considered, this is a minor issue and one we have well in hand.

With her own medical exam behind her, Luna went right back to work. The staff report that Luna intently watches the mop from under the door of the surgery room whenever the medical suite is cleaned. She seems to love watching it go back and forth, making sure not a spot is missed. When Lisa mops in surgery, where Luna lives, she puts her on her bed above the stacked crates to keep her toes dry.  Of course, for Luna, this kind of “shirking” on the job is unacceptable! A closer inspection of Lisa’s work is in order and “outrunning” the mop to get to a dry perch is now part of Luna’s on-the-job fitness plan.

Of course, no February sponsor update would be complete without a little Valentine’s Day magic thrown in for good measure. I am happy to report that Clark has regained Luna’s friendship!  He visits with her in the surgery room most days, while the staff cleans the hospital area. Clark is a little too “helpful” during these times and tries to get into food he shouldn’t have, but what can you do?  Luna knows Clark may never quite measure up as a professional cohort in the lab, but he is nonetheless a very handsome fellow and frequently quite charming. Let’s face it, a gal could do worse!

Thank you for your love of Luna and her diligence in the lab! Your generosity keeps her healthy and ready for serious work!
