Update for Kitten Fund

Wells

Hello Kitten Fund Sponsors,

October has been a very busy month for kittens at Tabby’s Place! We have several litters currently in our care as well as a few singletons. At this point in the year, many of our kittens are on the older side, having been born in the summer and lived outside in cat colonies until being trapped more recently. Our shyest little ones are in foster care to ensure that they are properly socialized and will be ready for Forever Homes in the coming weeks.

We have had several adoptions this month! Paige continues to do well in the Community Room and by the time you read this update, she will be in her forever home! She found a wonderful family and has gained a lot of confidence since her arrival. Hetty, one of our single kittens with neurological issues, will also be adopted by her foster family who will love her and care for her despite her differences. The States kittens were all adopted after FINALLY being freed of ringworm! Dakota and Alaska went home together as did Utah and Wyoming.

All three McDonalds kittens (McMuffin, McNugget, and McFlurry) found a home together (yay for a TRIPLE adoption!). Singletons Orzo and Modelo found homes independently and are doing well. Lastly, Garlic (one of the bagel boys) already went home; Cinnamon Raisin and Everything are a bit shy and are still looking for a quiet home, preferably together.

Tempura has also been mostly well this month despite a few bouts of diarrhea. She will continue to stay in foster for the time being, as she does require a little extra help with eating and getting around. We are hoping that the right family is out there who can give her the daily care she needs to stay happy and healthy!

Our favorite little feisty one, Rosita, has been fairly stable both in terms of health and behavior. She still struggles with proper interactions with people but has not had any major incidents of aggression this past month. However, she is not very happy with a new feline resident in her suite: Jessie. Jessie (and his “brother from another mother” Cody) recently moved to Suite B after coming all the way from another rescue in Kuwait.

While Cody is very shy around everyone, Jessie is very independent and outgoing and is another strong personality in the room. Rosita is not appreciative of the changing personality dynamics and we are working on figuring out how to best reduce tension in the suite. We are currently trying to create a “box city” so there are lots of spaces for cats to hang out or hide.

After weeks of trying, we were finally able to trap Orzo’s siblings! Manicotti (white male), Rotini (white male), and Pappardelle (black male) are all in foster care together. Since they are a bit older now, they need some extra time to warm up to people but are already beginning to trust their foster family.

Wednesday (Adams), a single older female kitten, is also in foster. S

he is still on the shy side but is very sweet once you gain her trust. She will need a special home where socialization can continue.

This month, we welcomed our Creature Crew just in time for Halloween! Spider (black male), Creature (black male), Zombie (grey female), and Goblin (grey female) are finally doing well after a rough start. When they arrived, they were a little less than two months old and were very small, underweight, and riddled with parasites. Due to their ringworm (a mild but very infectious skin fungus), they were first moved to our ringworm quarantine room at the sanctuary. However, they continued to lose weight and had unstable temperatures. Luckily, I was able to take them into foster and give them the extra care they needed to stabilize.

After two-and-a-half weeks of supplements, medications, round-the-clock feedings, temperature checks and fluids, and 24/7 access to a nice SnuggleSafe disc, they began to gain weight and become happy, healthier kittens! They are now back at our sanctuary so we can better treat their ringworm, but we are all glad that we have the ability to provide care for fragile ones like the Creature Crew!

The Creature Crew!

Thank you for your continued support, especially as we head into the winter months. We are sure that many more kittens will pass through our doors before the year is over and we are looking forward to preparing them for their own forever homes!
