Tempura is sunshine personified.
This happy little girl loves to play and chase wand toys. She has boundless kitten energy and exuberant and happy personality that could make even the grumpiest curmudgeon crack a smile. As a rare orange female, she also has some extra adorable good looks. Truly, Tempura is an extra special kitty.
Tempura is also special for another reason: her wobbliness. When she first arrived on our doorstep, we were worried that this little ray of sunshine was deathly ill. It quickly became clear, however, that Tempura wasn’t sick, but rather just different. Although she cannot get around like most other cats due to her lack of balance, she makes the best of every day and doesn’t seem to understand that she is different from anyone else.
Recently, we were finally able to do some imaging to get a good look at Tempura’s brain. From this evaluation, we were able to determine that Tempura essentially has no cerebellum, the part of the brain that deals with balance and coordination. Her condition is likely due to her mother being ill during pregnancy. This means that, while there is nothing that can be done to make Tempura more coordinated, her condition will not worsen and her prognosis is great! She will always be wobbly, but he will still very likely live a long, healthy life.
Due to her wobbliness, Tempura will need life-long accommodations. She will need access to a low-entry litter pan and will require some assistance standing up while eating. She can still get around, but is unable to climb or jump. She would do best in a home with lots of carpet that she can grip with her paws to help her propel herself.
We know that the right family is out there for Tempura. She is young, playful, and sweet, just like any kitten. She merely needs a little extra help to make sure that she stays happy and healthy.
