June’s Journal #6
Greetings, cat lovers and sponsors! Welcome to November, a glorious fall month here at the sanctuary. If you were looking for me at the NYC marathon on November 5th, you did not find me as I opted out this year. After hearing that thousands of folks would be running, I decided I did not want all that attention and decided staying at the sanctuary and running circles around the staff for another year would be a better choice.
And, guess what? I am a celebrity…okay, you can line up in the hall and wait for pawgraphs which I will be happy to provide. A person called a reporter came by to find out about Anka, our Turkish paraplegic…he was also hit by a car and was brought here to Tabby’s Place. So I feel we have a lot in common.
Anyway, the reporter was asking Jonathan, our Director, if we paralyzed cats could get around and do things and have a quality of life. So, Jonathan told him about me…yes, me…and outrunning the Tabby’s staff when they come to do my toilettes at various times during the day. I am also great at climbing the cat trees, believe it or not! I am happy Anka got all the press, but I am also glad to have shared how well we special needs furbabies can excel in various areas. So, I will see how Anka does when I meet him and maybe the two of us can be in the marathon next year.
Scribe came to visit me and I was lounging in my cat bed again. I love that bed and am always inside tucked all the way in the back. Scribe wanted to give me a massage again, but I was not having it. She did manage that foot and toe massage and it was hard for me to keep my eyes open as I really wanted to take a cat nap. We kitties here at Tabby’s Place take lots of cat naps. And with daylight savings time ending, we will get extra hours for our cat naps. Yay for that!
So, Halloween came and went and I did get treats, but I did not have to do any tricks to get them. Now I hear the staff and volunteers talking about Thanksgiving, a holiday when friends and family come together to give thanks for all we have.
I can’t even fit all the thanks I have into one day. If it were not for the wonderful people who rescued me and brought me to Tabby’s Place, I would not be here, but at Rainbow Bridge. And I have too much life to be there right now. I am thankful for my health. I am thankful for my food. I am thankful for my warm bed. Most of all, I am thankful for being safe and sound and loved at Tabby’s Place.
And last but by no means least, I am thankful from the depths of my heart for you and for your continued love and support, so that I may continue my races about the community room and be taken care of with love and medicall attention as neeeded. So, I wish all of you, my sponsors, and all my caretakers at Tabby’s Place, a happy and healthy Thanksgiving holiday…And I will have some turkey, thank you very much!
Hugs and Kisses,
June
