Update for June

Entry #4: June’s Journal

Good day, Tabby’s Place sponsors and cat lovers…Can you feel it?…the excitement in the air…The humans at Tabby’s are talking about hayrides, apple picking, pumpkins, pumpkin coffee, cool weather and sweaters…it must be fall sneaking up on us.

I find it amazing that all these things excite the humans and caretakers at the sanctuary. I, for one, prefer lounging around the community room and doing my usual run around the perimeter.
I also absolutely love finding that toasty warm spot where the sun shines on the floor at any given time of the day, and basking in the warmth of it.

And that is what happened not long ago. My scribe came to visit and to chat with me, and I was just trying to relax in a great sunny spot near dear Melanie. But scribe wanted to give me yet another massage and talk to me and get in some pets. So, of course, I indulged her. But, I did run into a covered bed and let her pet me from there.

While i was relaxing during my massage, I heard Melanie having words with another kitty. I wonder if it was Walter. He has been sneaking into my room and wreaking a bit of kitty havoc by whacking some of the residents. But I have managed to elude him…I am just too fast for him…It seems that this kitty stole Mel’s window seat and she was not happy.

So, I got a toe and leg massage and I liked it. Scribe got very excited as my legs started to twitch and she thought maybe I was getting some feeling back. She ran in to tell Jonathan, the head honcho of my sanctuary.

Alas, it was not meant to be for me to have feeling. Jonathan told her I had lower, motor neuron activity. It has to do with connecting separately to the spine and the brain. While my scribe was excited that I might walk again, I have accepted my lot in life as a special needs kitty and still hope a special adopter is out there somewhere for me.

Anyway, I got a toe and leg massage for about another half hour until scribe had to leave to have lunch with Larry. He is a wonderful volunteer at Tabby’s and I like him.

After she left, I spent the day going in and out of my covered bed in search of a sunny spot on the floor. I keep seeing these kitties sitting in window seats and looking out onto the highway and beautiful scenery just beyond. Maybe one day I can sit in a window seat or the humans at Tabby’s can move my cat tree in front of the window so I can look out like Melanie.

Healthwise, I have had a wonderful month, with no infections, no meds, no worries. So, enjoy your month and celebrate each day as life is very special.

Hugs and kitty kisses,

Love, June
