Update for June

June’s Journal #29

Happy November, dear sponsors, Tabby’s Place fans, and cat lovers…

…and welcome to my newest journal.

Whew, I managed to get past Halloween safe and sound.  I knew I would be okay as I am here at the sanctuary with all the other Tabby’s Place kitties.  I didn’t even have to do any tricks to get some extra treats, as the staff said I do a lot of tricks every day.  Managing the morning meetings by pulling myself up close to the table and climbing into cat trees and under blankets is no easy feat.  But since I am so agile, I do it all the time. So, the staff said those were my tricks and made it easy for me to get my treats.

I am feeling so good these days, except for a little episode.   I remember it well.  It was exactly November 8 in the morning after our breakfast.  I was getting ready for my post-breakfast nap when I was suddenly “attacked” by a newbie, Miss Claire. Gee, I don’t know what I did to anger her. But I did hear the staff say she has some vision issues.  Maybe she thought I was an interloper or enemy. Guess what she did….she ran over to me and swatted me 5 or 6 times with her paw!  I don’t remember if it was 5 or 6 times because I was so shocked by it all.  So I just pulled myself away from her and then she went away and that was the end of it. I sure do hope she doesn’t get mad at me again as that was not a fun experience for me.

Talking about fun experiences, I am having a good time with Puzzle.  We often hide under the blankets on the big dog bed in the Community Room and sleep together for hours.  We keep each other safe and warm and do kitty chuckles when the staff has to search for us. They are getting wise to our “hangouts” and are starting to look under the blankets first.

This month I am experiencing good health again.  No sign of any UTIs at all. I got my ears cleaned, my teeth checked, my mani and pedi, and my weight taken …a wonderful spa day.  Scribe also came to visit me and I was in a covered bed with a little cloth flap over the door. I was having a wonderful nap. She petted my head and ears for a bit and talked to me about what all her animals were doing.

She told me about a kitty she rescued, a big tabby boy she named Shakespeare. He had a degloved neck and needed lots of love and care. And then he had all his teeth out since he had stomatitis. Poor Shakespeare!  But Scribe says he is fine now—all healed and eating up a storm.  I am glad as I remember how it was to be on the streets with no hope.

Well, that is over for me now.  I know you humans are celebrating Thanksgiving this month.  I celebrate Thanksgiving every day as I am safe and happy and healthy here at the sanctuary.  There is so much in my life to be thankful for:  my rescue, my road to recovery after being paralyzed, my socialization so I can be adopted one day, and all the good food and treats and love and medical care I get here with the rest of the kitties.

I wish all my dear sponsors and cat lovers everywhere a safe and happy holiday.  I know you all have much to be thankful for. Treasure each moment of each day as life is fleeting and the days go by quickly.  And come to visit me here at Tabby’s Place where you will find me in the Community Room enjoying my new life.

Love and kitty kisses to all,
June
